::::Tea Cosies For Towneley - The Open Shop Project Burnley::::

Date: May / June 2010
Location: Burnley Town Centre & Towneley Hall
Info: Community inclusive project, workshops and installation

Throughout May and June 2010 ArtYarn were invited to be the artists in residence at The Open Shop Project in Burnley Town Centre (UK).
Throughout the residency ArtYarn invited the local community to attend workshops and to assist in the creation of the project 'Tea Cosies For Townley'.

Tea Cosies For Towneley introduced the community to the wonderful collection of Art Deco Tea Sets, which were collected by Mrs. Milner of Towneley Hall in the early 20th century. In June 2010 the Tea Sets were brought out of the stores of Towneley Hall and put on display as part of a large community event to celebrate the end of a huge regeneration project at Towneley Hall supported by the Lottery Herritage Fund.
ArtYarn were commissioned to make a series of Art Deco inspired tea cosies with the community to display along side the tea set collection.
